The shade comes first.

A piece only works if the colour disappears into your own hair. Every shade below is a photographed reference from the RemyPatra colour ring, with the tone, the skin tones it flatters and the pieces it is made on, so you can narrow it down before you ask us anything.

How to choose well

Match the roots, not the lengths

A topper or clip-in sits against your parting. If the roots are wrong the whole piece reads false, however close the ends are.

Think about grow-out

A solid shade shows a line as your own roots come through. A balayage or a grey blend hides it, which is why those sell well to first-time buyers.

Check in daylight, not in the shop

Warm indoor lighting flatters brown and hides brass. Look at any swatch near a window before you decide.

Screens are not the reference

Every phone renders colour differently. The photographs here are from the RemyPatra colour ring, but the ring itself, or a matched photo of your hair, is what we build to.

Not sure? Send a photo

The match takes two photographs and a few minutes of your time. We do it on real hair against the ring, not on a screen.

  1. 1

    Take a daylight photo

Stand near a window, no flash, no filter. One photo of the roots and one of the lengths, with your hair down.

  2. 2

    Tell us the piece

Say which style you are looking at and where you need coverage, so we know how much of the shade has to match.

  3. 3

    We compare your tone

We place your photographs against the colour ring and shortlist the two closest shades we actually stock.

  4. 4

    You choose before you order

We send the shortlist with our recommendation. Nothing is cut or made until you agree the shade.

Questions, answered plainly

How many shades does RemyPatra Alta offer?

The retail collection is built around eleven stock shades: three solids (Natural Black, Dark Brown, Natural Brown), four balayages, one multi-tonal brown highlight blend, and three grey blends at 20%, 40% and 60%. The exact options for each piece are listed on its own page.

Can you match the colour of my own hair?

Send a daylight photograph and we will tell you honestly which of the stock shades sits closest. If none of them is right, say so before ordering rather than after.

Why do the solids have no blonde or red?

The retail solids cover the shades most pieces are ordered in. Blondes and reds are made to order through the professional side, where the full colour ring of more than sixty production shades is available.

What is a grey blend?

Grey is woven through the base colour rather than dyed over all of it, so the piece reads as natural salt-and-pepper instead of a flat silver. You choose how much: 20%, 40% or 60%.

Will the colour fade?

Human hair behaves like your own: sun, chlorine and heat styling all shift tone over time. Follow the care guidance on your piece, and ask us before bleaching or toning it.
