Responsibility · Part three of three

We would rather be honest
than decorated.

This page states what we actually do for the people in our chain and for the chemistry and water we use — and, just as plainly, what we have not achieved yet. Nothing here is a purchased badge.

Our position

Hair is a human product before it is a beauty product.

Every kilo we sell began on somebody's head and passed through many pairs of hands before it reached yours. That is the whole ethical question in this industry: were those people dealt with fairly, and can the buyer find out?

Most suppliers answer with a logo. We answer with access. Ask where a lot came from and we will tell you. Ask to see the factory and the sorting tables and we will book you in. If a claim on this page cannot survive that visit, it should not be on this page.

People

The chain is made of hands.

Paid at source, in full

Collectors and temple-side suppliers are paid directly and on agreed terms. We do not use layers of intermediaries whose margins are invisible to everyone including us.

No child labour, anywhere in our chain

Sorting, hackling and wefting are adult, skilled roles. Any partner found using child labour ends their relationship with us immediately, without notice.

Skilled work, treated as skilled work

Sorting a lot correctly takes years to learn. Our factory is built around retaining those people rather than replacing them each season.

Women's work made visible

The majority of sorting, drawing and hand-tied construction in this industry is done by women. They are the reason your row lies flat. We say so instead of crediting a machine.

Process and place

Gentler chemistry is also better hair.

In this trade the responsible choice and the quality choice are usually the same choice. Forced lifts are fast, cheap and destroy the strand. Slow, staged colour costs more time and yields hair that survives ten washes with a client. We chose the slower route for commercial reasons as much as ethical ones — and we are content to say so.

  • ✓Staged colour development instead of single aggressive lifts
  • ✓Inputs screened against EU cosmetic safety guidance
  • ✓Batched wash and colour cycles to reduce water per kilo
  • ✓Minimal, protective packaging on wholesale shipments

Slow chemistry over forced chemistry

Gradual, staged lifts use gentler solutions for longer instead of harsh ones for minutes. It protects the strand and it puts less aggressive chemistry into the process.

No banned substances

Colour and processing inputs are selected against EU cosmetic safety guidance. If a chemical is restricted for cosmetic use in Europe, it is not used on hair we sell.

Water discipline

Washing and colour baths are the largest water use in this trade. We batch and stage them to reduce volume per kilo, and we are working towards recovery capacity on site.

Packaging without theatre

We do not build heavy retail packaging into wholesale orders. Private-label clients choose their own; we default to protective, minimal and recyclable.

The honest column

Have. Working on. Will not claim.

Buyers in the USA and Europe are asked for supplier evidence by their own clients. This grid exists so you can answer them accurately about us.

What we have

An owned Indian factory, European quality-control offices, lot records, retained shade references, founder sign-off, and an open door to any serious buyer during working hours.

What we are working on

On-site water recovery capacity, a formal written ethics charter, and third-party audit of our factory. These are in progress, not finished, and we will publish them when they are real.

What we will not claim

We do not hold ISO or B Corp certification and we will not display anyone else's. We do not call ourselves carbon neutral. We do not publish donation figures we cannot evidence.
