Genius Weft · Complete guide
Genius Weft, written down properly.
Most Genius Weft pages online are a product listing with a price. This one is the specification: what the construction actually is, where it beats hand-tied and where it does not, what makes one weft last a full wear cycle and another fail in week three, and how to test any supplier's sample before you spend money. We manufacture Genius Weft on our own lines in India, so everything below is what we build to, not what we resell.
- Flat, machine-finished, cuttable along the row, no thick return band.
- Indian hair, cuticle aligned in one direction, sorted by hand.
- Slow staged colour, so blonde holds tone instead of going brassy and spongy.
- Smallest professional trial: 1kg total, with the product and shade mix agreed before quotation.
- Wholesale 3–10kg. private label from 10kg. Distributor from about 50kg a month.

RemyPatra Hair Group
How we supply it.
What it is
A thin flat weft finished so the row holds when it is cut. One weft can be sized to the section in front of you, which means fewer SKUs on the shelf and fewer clients turned away because the width was wrong.
Where it wins
Beaded row installs on the majority of client hair types. It sits flatter than a traditional machine weft and holds its shape better than a hand-tied row across repeated move-ups.
Where hand-tied still wins
Very fine hair where the softest possible seam matters more than flexibility. We make both, and we will tell you which one suits your column rather than selling you the one with the better margin.
What decides the price
Length, shade, drawn level and monthly quantity. Blonde takes longer in colour. Long lengths are rarer at the source. A tight length curve and a booked monthly slot move a factory number more than any discount request.
What decides whether it lasts
How slowly it was lightened, whether the lot was kept together, and whether the cuticle runs one way. Nothing on the outside of the packet tells you any of it, which is why the ten wash test exists.
What you get from us
A written specification per product, your approved reference lot held in our factory, tagged lots, and one company accountable from sorting table to box.
Buyer Questions
Straight answers.
What is a Genius Weft?
A Genius Weft is a thin, flat, machine-finished weft with no thick return band, built so it can be cut anywhere along the row without unravelling. It sits flatter against the head than a traditional machine weft and holds its shape better than a hand-tied row, which is why it has become the default row weft for beaded installs.
What is the difference between Genius Weft and hand-tied weft?
A hand-tied weft is knotted by hand and cannot be cut, so it must be installed at the length it was made. A Genius Weft is machine finished and cuttable, so one weft can be sized to the section in the chair. Hand-tied is usually thinner and softer at the seam; Genius Weft is more forgiving for a stylist who needs to fit different head shapes from the same stock.
Can you cut a Genius Weft anywhere?
Yes, that is the point of the construction. The weft is finished so the row holds when it is cut, which is why salons can carry fewer SKUs and still fit every client. We still recommend sealing the cut end according to your own install protocol.
How much does a Genius Weft cost wholesale?
Price depends on length, shade, drawn level and monthly quantity, not on a single retail number. Blonde costs more than brown because it takes longer in colour. Longer lengths cost more because fewer donors carry them. Tell us your lengths, shades and monthly kilos and you get a net factory price for that exact specification rather than a list price.
What is the minimum order for Genius Weft?
The smallest professional evaluation is 1kg total. The product and shade mix are agreed before quotation so the trial answers a useful question. Wholesale terms apply from 3kg, while private label and OEM begin at 10kg.
How do I know the hair will survive a full wear cycle?
Test it before you commit. Wash the trial ten times with heat and tension in between, judge it wet rather than dry, count shed and watch for colour drift. That protocol is written out step by step on our ten wash test page, and it works on any supplier's sample, including ours.
Will my reorder match my first order?
Your approved trial piece stays physically in our factory as the reference lot. Every reorder is matched against that hair, wet and dry, before packing, instead of being matched to a printed colour card that fades.
Is there a difference between Genius Weft, Genius Wefts and genius weft extensions?
No. They are the same construction written different ways. Some brands write Genius Weft, some write Genius Wefts, some write genius weft extensions or genius hair wefts. What matters is not the name on the packet but the weft height, the drawn level, the cuticle direction and how the blonde was lifted. Ask for those four things in writing from anyone selling you the term.
How is a Genius Weft different from ordinary human hair weft extensions?
Ordinary machine weft extensions have a thick return band, so cutting the row can make it unravel and the seam sits higher under fine hair. A Genius Weft is finished flat with no return band and holds when cut, so one weft covers several section widths. The hair inside can be identical; the difference is the finishing of the weft itself.
What lengths and weights do Genius Wefts come in?
We build to your length curve rather than a fixed catalogue. Standard salon lengths are covered, weight per weft is agreed with you and printed on the tag, and every piece is weighed before packing so your stock count and your customs paperwork match the box.
Do you supply Genius Weft to brands that sell under their own name?
Yes. From 10kg we make the same hair in your packaging, with your shade names and your tags. We are a factory, not a retail brand, so we never compete with the brands we supply.
What is the difference between Genius Weft and Volume Genius Weft?
Volume Genius Weft carries more hair for buyers who want greater density, while the standard build prioritises the finest, most flexible seam. Density cannot be judged from the name alone. We agree the hair weight, finished width and seam measurement in writing, then provide close-up photographs or video before approval.
Can you provide exact gram weights, widths and seam measurements?
Yes. Those figures depend on the chosen length, density and construction, so we put them in the quotation and final written specification rather than publish one number for every weft. Every approved piece is weighed and its finished seam can be measured and recorded before production.
Can trained stylists heat-join or rebond cut Genius Weft pieces?
The weft is designed to be cut without unravelling, but heat-joining is a separate installation method. We do not give a blanket recommendation without testing the exact seam, bonding material and tool temperature. A brand developing that method should approve a tested protocol before teaching it to stylists.
How long should professional-grade Genius Weft last?
There is no honest universal month figure. Lifespan changes with the starting hair, blonde level, construction, installation, maintenance, water, heat and home care. We ask buyers to run a controlled wash test and repeated professional installation before setting the lifespan promise they will make to their own clients.
Can the highest-grade blonde be made strictly silicone-free?
Yes. Our highest-grade blonde specification is made without silicone or a temporary cosmetic coating used to disguise damaged fibre. Put silicone-free in the written order specification so it remains an explicit acceptance point for production and final quality control.
How is Genius Weft pricing calculated?
We quote by the actual specification: trial or production quantity, length, blonde or darker shade, agreed drawn fullness and standard or Volume Genius construction. Pricing is supplied directly because changing any one of those variables changes the manufacturing cost.
What is the best Genius Weft?
The best Genius Weft is the one that still looks the same after ten washes and a move-up. Judge it on four things: a thin flat seam, cuticle running one way, full ends for the drawn level you paid for, and a blonde that was lightened slowly. Order a sample, wash it ten times, and compare it with what you use now.
What is an invisible Genius Weft?
Invisible is a selling word for a very thin, flat seam that hides under the client's own hair. Every Genius Weft is meant to sit flat. Ask for the seam height in writing and close-up photos, because that measurement, not the word invisible, decides whether it shows.
Where can I buy Genius Weft wholesale?
Directly from us, the factory that makes it. The first wholesale order starts from 1kg total, with the product and shade mix agreed before quotation. Wholesale terms apply from 3kg, and private label from 10kg under your own brand.

Why we do not sell 100g trial bundles
We have deliberately moved away from the 100–200g sample model. A single bundle is installed on one or two clients, so one experience becomes the whole judgement of the product. It shows nothing about how a shade repeats, how two batches compare, or how the hair behaves after repeated washing in a working salon.
A 1kg commercial trial covers roughly ten to twelve client applications across two shades. It gives you feedback from paying clients, a view of consistency across a meaningful quantity, and a proper read on how the product performs in your market. The hair in a 1kg trial is taken from the same sorting tables as a 20kg production run, so there is no separate sample standard to be disappointed by later.
We are the manufacturer, not a trading desk placing bundles with twenty buyers at once. We work with established salons, extension specialists, distributors and brands who already know their methods, lengths and shades, and who want one accountable source instead of a continuous supplier search.

Specification
What we build, line by line.
This is the specification we work to. Ask any supplier for the same table. If they cannot fill it in, the hair is being bought and resold rather than made.
| Specification | What we build | Why it matters in the chair |
|---|---|---|
| Construction | Flat machine-finished weft, no thick return band, cuttable along the row | Sits flatter under fine hair, fewer SKUs to carry, no unravelling when sized to the section |
| Weft height | Thin seam built for beaded row installs | Less bulk at the bead line, more comfortable second and third row |
| Hair | Indian hair, cuticle aligned in one direction, sorted by hand on our own tables | No reversed cuticle means no matting at the mid lengths in week three |
| Drawn level | Single drawn or double drawn, specified per order | Double drawn holds thickness at the ends; single drawn blends softer and costs less |
| Lengths | Standard salon lengths, built to your length curve | You stock what you fit, instead of one bundle of every length |
| Shades | Natural blacks and browns, plus lifted blondes including #613 and #60 blends | Built against your approved reference lot, not a printed swatch card |
| Colour process | Slow, staged lightening with measured solution and controlled drying | Fibre keeps strength, blonde holds tone instead of going brassy or spongy |
| Packing | Weighed per weft, tagged with product, length, colour, texture and weight | Your stock count and your customs paperwork agree with the box |
| Labelling | Neutral or your own brand from 10kg | You can sell it as your product from the first bulk order |

Terminology
Genius weft, genius wefts, weft extensions: the same thing, written six ways.
Buyers search for this product under half a dozen names, and suppliers use whichever wording suits their listing. None of it tells you what is inside the packet. Here is what each term means and what you should ask for instead.
Genius weft
The most common short form. A flat, cuttable, machine-finished weft with no return band.
Genius wefts
The plural, used the same way. Same construction, same specification.
Genius weft extensions
Retail wording for the finished product sold in a set. The construction is unchanged.
Genius hair wefts
Alternative wording used by some distributors. Still the same flat cuttable weft.
Weft extensions
The whole category, including traditional machine weft and hand-tied. Genius Weft is one construction inside it.
Human hair weft extensions
Any weft made of human hair. It says nothing about cuticle direction, drawn level or how the colour was done, which is where quality is actually decided.
Whatever the term on the website, ask for four things in writing: weft height, drawn level, cuticle direction and how the blonde was lifted. A factory can answer all four in one message. A reseller usually cannot answer any of them.
Buying
From first message to your own label.
Six steps. Nothing is committed until you have washed the hair yourself.
- 01
Send the specification, not the adjective
Two shades, two lengths, drawn level and roughly how many kilos a month. That is enough for us to quote a real number instead of a range.
- 02
Trial from 1kg
Choose the product and shade mix that will answer your most important test question. It is made on the same line as a bulk order, not prepared as a special show sample.
- 03
Test it hard
Ten washes with heat and tension between them. Judge the hair wet. Count shed. Watch the tone. Install a row on a real client if you can.
- 04
Approve and hold the reference
The piece you accept stays in our factory as your reference lot. It is the thing every future run is matched against.
- 05
Wholesale 2 to 10kg
Repeat orders against the written specification, air freighted, usually three to six days door to door.
- 06
Your own label from 10kg
Same hair, your packaging, your shade names, your tags. Your brand in front, RemyPatra behind it.
Failures
Five complaints, and what actually caused them.
It goes dry and puffy by wash three
Almost always over-lifted hair finished with enough silicone to pass the first two washes. Slow, staged lightening costs time in the factory and shows up months later in the chair.
The second order does not match the first
A supplier matching to a printed card instead of a physical lot. We keep your approved piece and match wet and dry against it.
It mats behind the ear
Mixed lots or reversed cuticle. Hair sorted by hand in one direction does not do this, which is why sorting is the slowest part of our production.
The seam shows on fine hair
Weft height and bead placement. A thin flat weft plus a tight length curve fixes more of this than changing brand.
Shed rises every wash
Weak weft finishing or hair pushed too hard in colour. Count shed across ten washes rather than judging the first one.
