Weft comparison

Genius Weft vs machine weft. Same hair, different seam.

Both are made by machine. The difference is how the top of the weft is finished. A traditional machine weft folds the hair over into a thicker band. A Genius Weft is finished flat, with no band, so it hides better and can be cut to size. We make both in our own factory, so we can tell you honestly when each one is the right buy.

  • Machine weft: thicker return band, lower cost, best for sew-ins and wigs.
  • Genius Weft: flat seam, cuttable, best for beaded row installs.
  • The hair inside can be identical. Quality comes from the hair, not the seam.
  • Both made from cuticle-aligned hair in our own factory.

RemyPatra Hair Group

How we supply it.

Seam and comfort

The return band on a machine weft sits higher and can show under fine hair. A Genius Weft lies flatter against the head, which clients feel as more comfortable.

Cutting and stock

A Genius Weft can be cut to any section width, so salons stock fewer sizes. A machine weft is usually installed at its full width or secured after cutting.

Cost

Machine weft costs less because the seam takes less work. For sew-ins, braids and wig making, that saving makes sense.

Which to choose

Beaded rows on most clients: Genius Weft. Sew-ins, wigs and budget installs: machine weft. Very fine hair wanting the softest seam: consider hand-tied.

Buyer Questions

Straight answers.

What is the difference between Genius Weft and machine weft?

A traditional machine weft has a thick return band along the top. A Genius Weft is finished flat with no return band, so it sits lower under the client's hair and can be cut without unravelling.

Is Genius Weft a type of machine weft?

Yes. It is made by machine, but finished in a different way. The flat, cuttable seam is what separates it from a traditional machine weft.

Can you cut a machine weft?

A traditional machine weft can unravel when cut unless the end is secured. A Genius Weft is designed to be cut along the row.

Which lasts longer, Genius Weft or machine weft?

The hair decides that, not the seam. Cuticle-aligned hair, lightened slowly, lasts in either weft. Mixed-direction or coated hair fails in either.

Why is machine weft cheaper?

The traditional seam takes less finishing work. If the hair inside is the same, you are paying for the flatter, cuttable seam in a Genius Weft.

Do you make both?

Yes. We make Genius Weft and traditional machine weft in our own factory. The first wholesale order starts from 1kg total.

Why we do not sell 100g trial bundles

We have deliberately moved away from the 100–200g sample model. A single bundle is installed on one or two clients, so one experience becomes the whole judgement of the product. It shows nothing about how a shade repeats, how two batches compare, or how the hair behaves after repeated washing in a working salon.

A 1kg commercial trial covers roughly ten to twelve client applications across two shades. It gives you feedback from paying clients, a view of consistency across a meaningful quantity, and a proper read on how the product performs in your market. The hair in a 1kg trial is taken from the same sorting tables as a 20kg production run, so there is no separate sample standard to be disappointed by later.

We are the manufacturer, not a trading desk placing bundles with twenty buyers at once. We work with established salons, extension specialists, distributors and brands who already know their methods, lengths and shades, and who want one accountable source instead of a continuous supplier search.
