Answer on method

Genius Weft, hand-tied or K-tip? Stock the method your stylists were trained in.

Short answer

Genius Weft is an ultra-thin machine-sealed weft that can be cut anywhere without unravelling. A hand-tied weft is thinner still with no return hair but must be installed as a full row. K-tip keratin bonds are individual strands at 0.8 to 1.0 g, best for fine hair and partial work. Stock the method your stylists already install rather than the one with the best margin.

Key facts

  • Genius Weft: machine-sealed, cut anywhere, 14 to 26 inches, double drawn
  • Hand-tied weft: fully hand-tied, no return hair, 14 to 24 inches, double drawn
  • K-tip: Italian keratin, flat and round tips, 0.8 to 1.0 g per strand, 14 to 24 inches
  • All three available from a 1 kg trial across two shades

Genius Weft

The flexible option. Because the weft is sealed through the middle, a stylist can cut it to any row length without sealing or returning the ends. That flexibility is why it has become the default request from US salons.

Hand-tied weft

The flattest option and the most invisible under fine hair, but it has to go in as a complete row. Stylists trained on hand-tied rarely switch, which is why brands that carry it keep carrying it.

K-tip keratin bonds

Individual strands give the most control around the hairline and for partial fills. Bond weight matters more than most buyers realise: heavier bonds are faster to install and harder on fine hair.

Which to stock first

Ask your ten best stylist accounts what they installed last week. Stock that, deeply, in two or three shades, and add a second method only once the first reorders itself.

Questions buyers ask

What is the difference between Genius Weft and a hand-tied weft?

Genius Weft is machine sealed and can be cut anywhere without unravelling. A hand-tied weft is thinner and has no return hair, but must be installed as a full row because cutting it causes it to come apart.

Is Genius Weft better than K-tip?

Neither is better. Wefts cover volume quickly across a row; K-tips give control around the hairline and for partial work. Many salons sell both to the same client.

Which method lasts longest?

Longevity depends far more on the hair quality and the aftercare than on the method. Cuticle-aligned Remy hair installed correctly outlasts coated hair in any of the three formats.

Can I trial more than one method at once?

Yes. The trial is 1kg total, from 300g per shade, and that can be split across methods so you can compare on real clients.
