Buyer Guide - India

How to choose an Indian hair supplier, and how to test one.

India is not the problem. India produces some of the best natural hair on earth. The problem starts after collection, when tonnage is mixed, over-processed and sold on price. This page gives you the questions and the tests, so you can judge any supplier in India on facts instead of adjectives, including us.

  • Ask where the hair is collected and how many kilograms are handled per month. Traceability disappears at industrial tonnage.
  • Ask who sorts it and whether strand direction is checked before wefting. This is the single reason hair matts at month four.
  • Ask how colour is developed. Fast, harsh bleaching hits the shade quickly and the hair gives up in six to eight months.
  • Ask what happens on the second order. Without a kept reference sample, every reorder is a different product.
  • Ask for the name of the person who inspects lots, and whether you can see the production unit or an EU inspection point.

We build enduring relationships through discretion, empathy, accountability and integrity, protecting the reputation behind every salon we serve. We shape our craft around our partners and their ambitions, never the other way around.

RemyPatra Hair Group

How we supply it.

The ten-wash test

Wash the sample ten times with the products your salon actually uses. Good hair keeps its slip and its colour. Over-processed hair loses shine by wash four and starts to tangle at the mid-length.

The wet fibre check

Wet hair tells the truth. Healthy fibre swells evenly and stays smooth between the fingers. Stripped hair feels rough one way and squeaky the other.

The reorder test

Order the same specification twice, two months apart, and lay the two side by side. This is where most Indian supply fails, and it is the cheapest test you can run.

Buyer Questions

Straight answers.

Why does Indian hair have such a mixed reputation?

Not because of the raw material. India produces some of the finest natural hair in the world. The reputation comes from how much of it is bought as bulk tonnage, mixed across donors and colours, and pushed through fast, harsh bleaching so it can be sold cheaply. The hair looks good for a few weeks and then tangles.

How can I tell a factory from a trading company?

Ask for the address of the production unit, photos or a live video of the sorting tables and weft lines, and the name of the person who inspects lots. A trading company will send stock photos and change the subject to price.

What should I test before placing a bulk order?

Wash the sample ten times with normal salon products. Check the wet fibre for slip and swelling. Brush from mid-length down and look for shedding at the weft seam. Compare the root end and tip end under light for cuticle direction.

Is a low price always a warning sign?

No, but a price far below everyone else usually means mixed donors, non-Remy hair turned around, or heavy silicone coating. Ask what changed in the specification to allow the price, and get it in writing.

How does RemyPatra answer these questions?

We own the Indian factory, hand-select 300 to 500 kg per month rather than industrial tonnage, colour-sort at collection, develop colour with slow bleaching, and keep an approved reference sample so every reorder matches.

Talk to the factory, not a reseller.

Order a trial kit, run all three tests, and compare it with anything else you are being offered from India. We would rather lose on a fair test than win on a promise.

Professional ordering

Start your first wholesale order.

Professional salons already know their preferred methods, colours, lengths and client demand. Start with the volume your salon already needs.

Independent salons

1kg

Start with the product and shade mix your current clients already need.

Growing salons

1–2kg

Build a working colour and length range around regular appointments.

Established high-demand salons

3–5kg+

Plan repeat supply against your monthly installation volume.

The smallest professional order is 1kg total. Product and shade mix are agreed before quotation. Wholesale supply is quoted to one written specification.

Why we do not sell 100g trial bundles

We have deliberately moved away from the 100–200g sample model. A single bundle is installed on one or two clients, so one experience becomes the whole judgement of the product. It shows nothing about how a shade repeats, how two batches compare, or how the hair behaves after repeated washing in a working salon.

A 1kg commercial trial covers roughly ten to twelve client applications across two shades. It gives you feedback from paying clients, a view of consistency across a meaningful quantity, and a proper read on how the product performs in your market. The hair in a 1kg trial is taken from the same sorting tables as a 20kg production run, so there is no separate sample standard to be disappointed by later.

We are the manufacturer, not a trading desk placing bundles with twenty buyers at once. We work with established salons, extension specialists, distributors and brands who already know their methods, lengths and shades, and who want one accountable source instead of a continuous supplier search.

Next step

Start wholesale ordering.

Our supply desk answers within one working day. Send a specification or a competitor quote and you get a like-for-like answer, not a brochure.

How we sell, before you ask.

1kg+

First wholesale order. Product and shade mix agreed before quotation.

3–10kg

Wholesale band, quoted per specification.

10kg+

Private label with your own packaging.

50kg+

Monthly distributor programme with held reference lot.

Every quote we send is already the net factory price for that specification and quantity. There is no retail markup to discount from, so we do not run percentage discounts — the price moves only when the specification or the quantity moves.

Tell us your kilos per month when you write. It is the one line that changes the quote. Express air freight is usually 3–6 days door to door.

Or send a short enquiry.

For buyers who prefer email, or who cannot use WhatsApp right now. Six fields, no account, no questionnaire. We reply with a factory-level quotation based on your present buying needs.

Side by side

What usually happens in India. What happens with us.

We are not naming companies. Take this list to any Indian supplier, including us, and ask them to answer it in writing.

Sourcing

Bulk tonnage bought from traders, mixed donors and colours in one bale.

Hand-selected 300 to 500 kg per month from smaller temples and select collection points, logged by lot.

Sorting

Speed sorting, reversed strands left in, floor collection blended back.

Direction-first sorting at our own tables; reversed cuticle pulled out before any weft line.

Colour

Fast, harsh bleaching to hit a shade in hours. The hair gives up in six to eight months.

Slow bleaching on delicate natural hair, developed over time so light shades survive repeated washing.

Consistency

Every reorder is a new lot with a new character.

An approved reference sample is kept, so colour, weight and construction repeat on every reorder.

Accountability

A brand name, a WhatsApp number and no named person behind a bad batch.

Our founder inspects lots personally. One named person is answerable for what ships.

Verification

Certificates supplied by the seller, photos supplied by the seller.

Visit our Manipur factory and stand at the sorting tables, or inspect the same lots at our.
