What actually defines a Genius Weft
A Genius Weft is a machine weft with the return sealed and trimmed so the spine is thin, flexible and cuttable at any point across the width without unravelling. That last property is the whole product. If it unravels when cut, it is a machine weft with marketing on it.
Test it the way you would use it: cut a 2cm section from the middle of a sample weft, brush it hard, then wash it. A correctly finished Genius Weft loses nothing. A poorly sealed one starts shedding from the cut edge on the first wash.
What to inspect before you commit
Seam thickness and flatness — hold the weft against your own scalp; a ridge you can feel through the hand is a ridge the client will feel on the pillow. Shed on the return, tested by brushing a weighed length fifty strokes and weighing what comes out. Colour behaviour at root, mid and end read separately, because rooted shades drift at the root first.
Then the wash-cycle test: five to ten washes with normal brushing. Coated hair changes character immediately after a clarifying wash. Full-cuticle hair does not.
Realistic minimums for a single stylist
Factory pricing does not require a warehouse. Our own structure is 300g per shade, 1kg total minimum — 1kg total order, which is roughly what a busy stylist installs in a fortnight across three shades. Private label starts at 10kg because it involves your packaging and labelling, not just your hair.
Be sceptical of a supplier who quotes a low headline minimum but applies it per order rather than per colour — one kilogram of a single shade is not a working stock position.
Freight, duty and lead time into the USA
Express air freight from India lands in the United States and Canada in roughly three to six working days door to door. Human hair extensions are a straightforward import; the paperwork is a commercial invoice, packing list and airway bill, and duty is calculated on the declared value.
Ask who is the importer of record and whether duty is included in the quote before you compare two prices. A landed price and an ex-works price are not the same number.
The questions a factory can answer and a reseller cannot
Which stage of your process removes reversed strands, and what percentage of intake is rejected there? What is your colour protocol and target level for this shade? Can you photograph my lot against a ruler and a reference card before it ships? Will you take a live video call from the factory at a time I choose?
None of these are trick questions. They are ordinary if you own the factory and impossible if you do not.
Buyer Questions
Can a single stylist buy factory-direct, or is it distributors only?
A single stylist can. Our minimum is 300g per shade, 1kg total minimum — 1kg total order, set deliberately so an independent stylist reaches factory pricing without holding warehouse stock.
How long does delivery to the USA take?
Roughly three to six working days door to door by express air freight, with customs paperwork prepared by us.
Can you match the Genius Weft shades I already buy?
Yes. Send the shade tag or a cutting from your current brand and our colour lab matches it, so your clients' colour history is not restarted by the supplier change.
