Weigh and measure
Weigh each pack on a kitchen or postal scale and compare it to the invoice. Measure length from the weft or bond to the end, pulling the hair straight without stretching.
Record any difference before opening more packs.
Check the shade against the reference
Compare each shade to your colour ring or retained strand in daylight, not under salon spotlights. Photograph them side by side.
Check fullness and the weft
Fan the hair out and look at the ends. Double drawn hair should stay full most of the way down; single drawn tapers more. Run a fine comb through the weft line and count loose hairs — a little shedding at first is normal, constant shedding is not.
Do one wash before installing
Wash a single weft or a few strands twice with a clarifying shampoo. This shows the real texture under any finishing product, before it goes on a client.
Report within the agreed window
Send photos, weights and your lot number to your supplier in writing. A good manufacturer will compare them to their own dispatch photos and retained sample.
Buyer Questions
How much shedding is normal?
A few hairs on the first combs is normal. Continuous shedding along the weft after a gentle comb is not.
What should I keep from each order?
The lot number, your arrival photos and a small strand. These make reorders and any claim easy.
