1. Strand test first
Cut a few strands from the back of a weft or bundle. Test the exact formula and timing on them before touching the whole set. Lightened hair takes colour faster than natural hair.
2. Going darker is easy, lighter is not
Depositing colour or going one or two shades darker is safe with a demi-permanent or low-volume formula. Avoid lifting extensions lighter: they have already been lightened once, and bleaching again weakens them.
3. Toning cool blondes
Use a low-volume developer (6 vol / 1.8% or less) or an acidic gloss. Apply on clean, towel-dried hair, check every few minutes and rinse early. Fine hair grabs toner quickly.
4. Protect bonds and tracks
Colour extensions before they are installed where possible. Once installed, keep colour away from keratin bonds, tape and weft tracks.
5. Condition after
Finish with a bond-care or deep conditioning treatment, and ask the client to wait 48 hours before washing.
Why the hair matters
Hair that was lightened slowly, with lower-strength chemistry, keeps its cuticle and takes colour evenly. That is why we lighten our Slavic-look range with Italian bleaching methods over longer times at our own factory.
Buyer Questions
Can I lighten Russian hair extensions?
We do not advise it. Order the lighter shade instead and tone down if needed.
Will colour fade?
Deposit colours fade faster on extensions than on growing hair, so plan to refresh toner at maintenance visits.
