Why speed damages blonde
Strong bleach for a short time lifts colour fast but swells and breaks the cuticle. The hair looks blonde, feels rough, and is then coated so it passes inspection.
Lower strength over a longer time, in several stages, lifts the colour while protecting the structure. It costs more time, labour and space — which is why blonde carries a surcharge on our price list.
Staged lightening, step by step
Hair is sorted by starting level so each batch lifts evenly. It is lightened in stages, rinsed, rested and checked between each stage. Controlled drying follows, because overheating weakened hair causes as much damage as the bleach itself.
Only when the target level is reached is the hair toned to the final shade and checked against the reference strand.
How to spot silicone-dependent blonde
Do a clarifying wash with no conditioner. Silicone-dependent blonde turns dry, fluffy and brassy. Properly lifted blonde stays soft, holds its tone and moves freely.
Also check the ends: thin, see-through ends under a coating are a sign of over-processing.
Buyer Questions
Why does blonde cost more?
Slow, staged lightening takes much longer and loses more hair in sorting. Our blonde surcharge reflects that work; see the price list.
Will blonde extensions go brassy?
Any blonde can warm with sun, hard water and heat. Well-lifted hair holds tone better; a purple toner and chelating wash keep it on shade.
