Why real Russian hair is rare
Naturally light, fine virgin hair from Eastern Europe is collected in small amounts, one ponytail at a time. Each ponytail differs in colour and length, so it cannot supply a salon that needs the same shade every month.
That scarcity is why genuine Slavic virgin hair is very expensive and rarely available in steady volume.
What most "Russian" hair actually is
Much of the hair sold as Russian or Slavic is fine hair that has been sorted and coloured in Asian factories, then relabelled by traders on its way to the salon. The buyer rarely learns which factory made it or how it was lightened.
That is not always bad hair. The problem is the missing information: without a known factory, nobody can tell you how it was processed or whether the next batch will match.
Look, not origin
The honest way to sell it is to separate two things: the look (fine texture, cool colour) and the origin (where the donor hair was cut). At RemyPatra our Slavic-look range is made at our own factory in Manipur, India, from selected fine baby virgin hair, and sold as Slavic look, never as Russian origin.
Salons tell us this protects them: they no longer repeat a claim to clients that they cannot prove.
Five questions to ask any Russian hair supplier
1. Which factory made this hair, and can I see it on a video call? 2. Is it sold as Russian origin or Russian look? 3. How was it lightened, and over how long? 4. Is there a batch number I can reorder against? 5. Can I test a sample kit before a bigger order?
Buyer Questions
Is Russian hair better than Indian hair?
Not by origin alone. Quality comes from cuticle alignment, single-donor lots and careful lightening. Fine Indian baby hair, coloured slowly, gives the texture and cool tone salons associate with Russian hair.
Is RemyPatra hair Russian?
No. Our Slavic-look hair is made at our own factory in India and named honestly as a look.
