The fibre
Vietnamese hair is typically thicker in diameter, denser, and naturally straighter with a heavy, smooth fall. It carries weight well and holds length without appearing thin at the ends, which suits clients with naturally coarse or dense hair.
Indian hair is generally finer with a natural body or slight wave, and blends more invisibly into fine to medium European and North American hair. For a client whose own hair is fine, Indian-origin hair usually reads as more natural at the blend line.
Colour behaviour
Vietnamese hair's density means it takes longer to lift, but once at base it tones cleanly and holds. Indian hair lifts faster and requires a gentler protocol to avoid over-processing the finer strands. Neither is harder to work with — they simply need different timing, which is why we colour them on separate protocols.
Availability and commercial reality
Different sourcing regions have developed around different strengths: some around scalable machine-processed material at competitive volume pricing, India around premium cuticle-aligned and temple-origin material. RemyPatra produces on its own Indian factory and works to a single specification and one QC standard, whichever origin a buyer selects.
Buyer Questions
Which should a salon stock?
Match it to your client base. Dense, coarse client hair leans Vietnamese; fine client hair leans Indian. Many salons carry both.
Is Vietnamese hair cheaper?
Commercial Machine Remy from Vietnam is generally more competitively priced at volume. Premium Indian cuticle-aligned lots sit above it.
